Hey guys!! Omar is chugging along and has just seven pages left to ink for The Surgeon: Chapter 4, with four of the seven coming in this weekend! The book is halfway colored and we expect it to be complete in a few weeks, then off to the printers! Digital books will be sent out as soon as they're ready! :)

Hi Kickstarterers. This is John, the writer/creator, typing at you on Tuesday evening, late in the campaign. I'm watching the numbers tick up steadily, overwhelmed by the generosity from long-time fans and by the sheer number of new backers who are willing to take a chance on this series. I could say more, but I just want to put some weight in that simple statement of gratitude and let you process it however you like.

Johnny P again. I just talked with Laurie and we agreed on a little bonus. I almost can't believe I'm using these numbers, but here's a promise:
If the campaign closes above $10K (ten THOUSAND dollars) and/or we end up with 350 backers, I'll include a prose short story set about 12 years in the past about how Dr. Hanover lost the tip of her finger.
I've had it written as a comix piece for a couple years, but it's never come together with all the right people at the right time. I haven't written a short story in a long time, so this will be a good change of pace. It'll be included in the book, probably adding about 5 pages total.
So if we want this, let's spread the word a little and I'll do what I can to finish this mofo strong.
This campaign did better than I hoped, both in terms of funding and in terms of new people discovering the work. Thank you all very much from an exhausted, old dad of teenagers with a demanding day job who just funded another comic book.
I cannot wait. I cannot fuckin' wait for you to read this.
And this book's funding makes it that much more likely that we can finish the whole arc of chapters 5 and 6. We'll see where it goes from there, but it can go lots of places, for years and years.
I'm also really eager to write some short fiction again for that prequel story. This is all extremely exciting, and it was because of your help.
